Kylie Minogue
@ MEN Arena, Manchester, 27 April 2005
There really is no stopping Kylie Minogue at the minute. I only hope, as she stated in a recent interview, that her fans can hack the pace of her spectacularly extravagant shows.

Her current Showgirl tour uses a time frame concept, beginning with hits as far back as 1987 and gradually building up to her most recent work.

The MEN Arena show was set alight with Better The Devil You Know which immediately propelled the audience into a frenzy of activity that did not waver throughout the two-hour performance.

As Kylie continued on her trip down memory lane delighting the audience with many classic favorites such as Confide In Me, I Should Be So Lucky and The Locomotion as well as the more recent Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Slow a true sense of fun captivated the arena as people were obviously having a great time and enjoying being privy to such a wide ranging amalgamation of hits.

The songs that couldn't help but get you up on your feet dancing were complimented by stunning visual effects, awe-inspiring and sometimes acrobatic dance routines and a terrific circus theme which was awash with brightly colored feathers and dazzling lights. All of which only served to highlight the joyous feeling of the packed out arena.

As well as mixing music elements of Spinning Around and Step Back In Time, Kylie also had many other surprises up her sleeve: she sang a Ballard version of Come Into My World and a beautiful rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow which was made to seem all the more magical by the impressive starry backdrop.

The audience was not merely expected to watch a performance but invited to be part of it; with an array of excited dancing fans and requested sing-a-longs (who could refuse singing along to Especially For You?) Kylie engaged and celebrated her expansive music career with her adoring audience. After rotating through multiple costume changes and a glittering spectrum of musical entertainment she encouraged the audience to participate in a Mexican wave stating that it was her favorite way of saying goodbye. You may well think this sounds a little corny, but is it not these little quirks combined with her uplifting floor fillers, that has retained a special place for Miss Minogue in many people's hearts over the years?

Throughout the show Kylie did her job, proving, yet again, that she is the princess of pop who deserves nothing less than her Showgirl title.
