Alfie launch A Word In Your Ear, a precursor to their second album of the same title.

It ambles along at a sedate pace, hogging territory occupied by Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and The Beta Band, with acoustic guitar picking. They also pilfer some of The Stone Roses' ouevre with shambolic, Madchester rhythm and '70s vocal harmonies. Not as immediate as most of their debut album, this is nevertheless a pleasant diversion from everyday life provided by a rather pleasing band.

The B-side is album track Cloudy Lemonade which features a noise like a kitten meowling - and the single is almost worth buying for this. A J-Walk remix of the title track finishes the release off nicely.
