With pop-rock having seemingly been taken to its furthest extremities by My Chemical Romance, it appears that Natasha Khan may be about to hit the big time. In reproducing child-like flights-of-fancy at the eeriest of depths, Trophy shrouds a fairytale in creeping menace, and does so with supreme simplicity.

Khan's four piece ensemble Bat For Lashes, here featuring Lift To Experience vocalist Josh T Pearson, look set to usher in a nouveau-gothic trend for stripped down, haunting virtuosity. This single's success comes from creating a darkly operatic sonic field around an oft-repeated, simple melody and prudent lyrical content.

Sections of hand-claps, rumbling piano and violins create a marching feel to the track, leaving Khan's hook "Heaven is a feeling I get in your arms" to sit majestically in its midst. Progressive this aint, but this ghostly throwback to untainted imagination is welcome nonetheless.
