When you think of quality Irish girl groups, little springs to mind. Many people's memories don't stretch back much further than B*Witched and their baffling flirt with stardom.
With the degrading tendency of girl groups flaunting the flesh to covers worthy of a school pageant, Bellefire happily do the opposite, writing their own songs (rather decent bside Not Letting Go) and playing their own instruments, in their home rehearsal space in Dublin. Even if their artwork and press shots suggest Louis Vuitton's winter collection, there is a certain grace about this trio.
But more importantly, the title track to their forthcoming album is a great infectious love song. No overproduction, no dodgy garage bits, just drums, bass, guitar and three top singers. After four years of hard graft maybe, just maybe, Bellefire are the shot of sense much needed in pop world.
