His name may sound like a new Welsh tenor, but one listen to Bryn Christopher's debut single will have you convinced which particular market he's aimed at.

If you were one of the many millions who bought Mark Ronson's Version or Amy Winehouse's Back To Black last year, this is for you. Trumpets parp in the background, the melody is smooth, soulful and very sassy, and Christopher's voice is remarkable - it's not too much of an exaggeration to say he sounds like the natural successor to names like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

It's old-school soul music but still sounds bang up to date, and is going to be massive. Sure, there's something a bit cynical about it all - you can imagine the talk in Polydor's office: "quick - we need the next Mark Ronson" - but with something as sleek, professional and sheer enjoyable as this, it's best to just succumb to its charms.
