I have been so loved up lately that I’ve been worried that my critical radar had been eternally buggered. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather be happy and love ever song I hear than sad and full of witty prose. Well, good old Clearlake they have proven to me that I am still able to pick a clunker even when I am as happy as Oliver Reed at a free bar.

This is turgid blues based indie that makes me want to hit wack them repeatedly with a cheap copy of The Second Coming by The Stone Roses. Christ, this is the sort of third hand riff nostalgia that spilt Ian Brown from his school friend John Squire. Imagine a Kasabian b-side with lyrics stolen from the recycling bin outside of Hard-Fi garage studio.

This fails on so many levels. A bass line that apes the Stooges does not make this primal rock gold. When Jason Pegg sings "I’ve been disappointed so long..", well for the time it took to listen to this I know what he means.
