Say what you like about Craig David, but you have to admire his persistence - and 6 Of 1 Thing confirms he's not lost the knack for a good hook.

Whereas his more recent efforts have struggled for identity, falling somewhere between US and UK approaches to soul, this one finds him at ease over a brassy, funky backing, the chorus carrying all before it.

Lyrically nothing has moved on though, and soon he's asking "tell me girl what's changed...why you acting crazy", the cue for the all too familiar vocoder asides to make an appearance. Yet despite this - and a rather crowded production - the song leaves its mark, and that's what you want from a single.
