So, it is perhaps reassuring, that in the fickle world of the indie single release, everyone worth their emaciated weight in jagged hair cuts is talking about the Gossip.
The band are a marketing man's nightmare. Standing In The Way Of Control is a protest to the anti-gay marriage laws in US. Imagine pitching that to Pop Idol? Plus, Beth Ditto is the size of a small whale. She probably eats four Karen Os for breakfast. And here's the laugh-out-loud funny part - the song is fucking ace. Disco guitars. Motown drums. And a voice with more soul than a district of Indian burial grounds. It is like a check list for a 'build your own anthem' kit. Add to this a collection of remixes that are actually worth listening to and suddenly everything seems even rosier.
