It would seem that modernist art-rockers Ikara Colt have gone all pop on us, with new single Modern Feeling remixed by Swedish producer Niklas Flyckt (the man responsible for Britney's Toxic, Rachel Stevens' (Sweet Dreams) My LA Ex and Girls Aloud's Sound of the Underground).
The result is a lush, aloof and taut punky 90-second single that kicks off with a drum beat and swirling synths reminiscent of Blondie's Atomic before settling in to lead singer Paul Resende's poundingly robotic trademark delivery. Relief is only offered by the harmonious echoes of guitarist Claire Ingram.
Though they're careful to keep their 'cultness' it's an unashamedly more mainstream sound than that they have been plugging before, and all the better for it. Yet another success for the in demand behind-the-scenes man Flyckt.
