Folk-tinged, smokey jazz sounds abound from Bristol-based Ilya, on The Revelation EP. And indeed, it's most welcome on Quattra Neon with its English folk and Lalo Shiffrin-esque musings jibing me along, all mature and grown up.

The second track stalls a little however; the intro intrigues and there's a lovely key change midway but little else to hook me. Indeed, similar can be said for Philadelphia And Blue and Rehab Messiah. The mood is charming, all French theatrical mixed with blue haze jazz, but the songs sound a little underdeveloped, and underwritten.

Asleep At The Wheel is rather more divine however, lush and moody, and as it ends on a high, I too feel optimistic for what could be a fabulous band.
