With this excellent summer anthem, the last few peripheral hermits of society are bound to be made aware of Britain's most popular new band . And for good reason too: there are so many reasons to like The Kooks.

Firstly, their sound rekindles memories of many other fine bands who used the prefix 'The' (see Beatles, Kinks, Who and Cure). Secondly, their highly-polished pop melodies gives them the boyish appeal of McFly, with the aforementioned sound allusions making it OK to enjoy it. Part of this young image comes also from, quite simply, being bloody young themselves; guitarist Hugh Harris, at a mere 18 years of age, rivals the youngest out there in rock. Duly utilising this youthful exuberance to write songs describing exactly what it is like to be growing up in the teenage world of today, The Kooks can rely on tapping into the mindsets of younger culture, whilst inducing a smiling nostalgia from the elder. All signs, then, point to stardom.

She Moves In Her Own Way, already plastered all over Radio 1, is the fifth offering from the band’s widely-acclaimed debut album Inside In/Inside Out. Beginning stridently with a jangling acoustic guitar that provides the backbone of the tune, this is just under three minutes of straight-out pop glory. The vocals of Luke Pritchard are as bouncy as the rhythm of the instruments behind him, and the repetition of many key lines, the best being "you don't pull my strings because I'm a better man moving on to better things", makes this song instantly memorable.

There is never too much going on in the mix, the chorus of "she came to my show just to hear about my day" is ridiculously catchy, and there is even time for a guitar solo. Pretty much all you could want in a song, wrapped up in one neat little package. The true test will come when The Kooks record their second LP, but for now there is nothing about them that cannot be indulged in.
