The Mutts are a four-piece from Brighton who have been gigging since 2001, building up such a formidable reputation that they've already supported such luminaries as The Raveonettes and Radio 4.
The band obviously worship the punk and new wave bands of the late '70s as this six-track EP could have easily have come from the likes of The Ramones. Lead singer Chris Murtagh growls and yelps his way through six blisteringly fast tracks - the band's obvious energy transfers just as well to the studio as it does on the stage.
Out of the six tracks, Shark is a definite favourite with its driving guitar riff while Neon Lights stands out as the catchiest of the lot. It would be nice to hear a variety of sounds - the listener feels rather exhausted by the end of the EP - but this is a good calling call from a talented new band.
