They've endured much critical opprobium have Ocean Colour Scene, but to give them their credit, they're still producing records long after many of their contempories gave up.

Free My Name is not exactly a radical departure for the boys, being a foot-stomping soulful number with an nicely uplifting chorus. Simon Fowler is also in fine voice, but there's a nagging feeling that this is a band going through the motions.

The glory days of The Riverboat Song are long behind them now, and it's hard to see this returning them to those heights. Fans won't care one jot of course and will love this, but it's difficult to see anyone else caring.
