The Pipettes - Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me (Memphis Industries)
UK release date: 27 March 2006
The anatomy of a Pipettes single:
The song will begin. A spectacular chorus (number one) will appear. Fingers will start clicking, hips will start sashaying and you will smile. You will begin to reminisce about how fantastic all-girl vocal groups were, and how, previous to this, there hadn't been any good ones since the mid-sixties, despite the fact you're twenty years old.
Next, a short verse. This will contain smart lyrical couplets and could cause uncontrollable swaying. You may well begin to nod and agree how your man doesn't appreciate you, despite being a twenty-two stone Millwall fan with an attitude problem. Upon completion, the verse will lead straight into spectacular chorus number two. Beware, this chorus may well contain triple girl harmonies.
Following this there will be a short reprise of spectacular chorus one, before reach our conclusion with a return to spectacular chorus two. The harmonies will tighten, the fingers will shake faster and faster and the sashaying will reach biblical levels, until the whole thing has built to such a beatific finale that the sky will crack, golden beams of light will break through the clouds, and you will flop back in a state of utter Utopian enlightenment. And then you'll play it again...
