Sometimes the less said about something, the better. Born To Please, the debut single from hyped Texan sextet Sound Team, is very, very good.

The blogerati are definitely trying their darndest to live up to all the hype. They almost succeed, but the Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene comparisons do the Sound Team a huge disservice. It has all the makings of an indie anthem - shimmering synths, driving guitars, a mildly spooky vibe topped off with a layered vocal of what sounds like an entire army cannily working its way into your mind.

Minus the expectation of a wildly experimental debut, this solid track might have cemented its position as one of the sleeper hits of 2006. As it is, the hype means you’ll eventually be hearing this one in your sleep.
