Stephen Fretwell seems to have established a bit of a niche for himself as The James Blunt It's OK To Like. Previous singles Run and Emily have picked up respectable amounts of airplay and now New York, if there's any justice, will do for him what You're Beautiful did for the former soldier.

For New York is Fretwell's finest single yet, a lovely, lilting hymn to fantasising about moving to the Big Apple and making a fresh start. Fretwell's mournful vocals produce just the right amount of yearning as he dreams about getting a job in a bar while his waitress girlfriend can serve "fat moustachied men in suits".

It's a spellbinding few minutes that should see Fretwell become a serious competitor to his sound-alike Damien Rice.
