The most personal single yet from The Streets finds Mike Skinner in consolation mode, providing a pick me up for a mate in distress, and it's so touching that even Radio 2 is playing it.
Of course Skinner's trademark narrative is there, forming a counterpoint to the plaintive chorus and the exquisitely fragile string parts. Once again his powers of observation are brought into focus lyrically, and the deceptively simple track leaves an impression long after it ends.
A strangely affecting song, and if there's any justice it will repeat the top ten success to which Skinner has recently become accustomed.
