The rather annoyingly punctuated Like. Gentle. Men. is the debut release from Leicester five piece Tired Irie, who sound like they're nervously attempting to creep down the path that Editors raced down to instant domination.
Unlike the former, however, Tired Irie sound like panicky amateurs who don't believe in their own music - which is, at times, really quite good, even if it does sound like it's been recorded in a shed... with a dictaphone... a very old dictaphone.
Like. Gentle. Men.'s strong point is the rhythm section: The song splices spiky Editors-esque riffs with punchy disco rhythms and hip shaking basslines. The vocals, however, are questionable to say the least. In fact, the vocalist sounds as if he's never sung before. B-side Burning Off The Murk, too, shows that Tired Irie still have a great deal to learn.
