Uniting Nations - Ai No Corrida

The descent down the slippery slope continues apace for Uniting Nations, who are surely near rock bottom with this aberration of a cover.

In its original form Ai No Corrida is a breezy, insanely catchy club track. What Daz Sampson and Paul Keenan have done is update it for the 21st century, but in doing so have removed a lot of the appeal, adding solid yet lumpy beats and a fulsome bassline. Sadly it doesn't work, and while Laura More's vocals may be sweet, they don't reach the expression required.

Add the usual lazy filtering effects and I'm afraid you have the musical equivalent of being 5-0 down at half-time, the Sharp Boys securing a late but undeserved consolation with their remix. Most certainly a record to avoid, and here's hoping the duo regain their Out Of Touch form, or try something more original.
