Having got all hot under the collar because The Vincent Black Shadow claimed to be influenced by Faith No More and 1940's Paris cabaret, I have to admit that on first listen Metro was a crushing disappointment.

I couldn't work out whether I'd got the right CD, as none of these influences seemed to be present at all. That dealt with, Metro revealed itself to be one of the catchiest songs I have heard in a very long time. Musically (on this single at least) The Vincent Black Shadow have a lot more in common with No Doubt than any of the influences the band list.

Spiky punk guitars and forceful drumming propel the song at a reasonable pace, whilst an almost funky bass provides a soft cushion for those who don't like their pop rides too bumpy.
