Not only has 17-year-old Zoe Birkett successfully ridden the Pop Idol wave but she's been signed to svangali Simon Fuller's own record label. He's the man responsible for the rise and rise of S Club, The Spice Girls and Annie Lennox - and, on the evidence of this single, he's pitched Zoe just right.

Her debut single, written by Ray Hedges, Sarah Whatmore and Nigel Butler, is a dancey number to counter the blandness of Gareth Gates, the sort of thing Kylie fans in schools and gay clubs will lap up like a hot dinner.

It's upbeat, sassy and comes backed with a swathe of club mixes, all of which more or less cut the mustard. Great to dance the Christmas puddi off to.
